Test the sealing of fiber optic closures and distribution boxes

Sealability Test

After the optical cable junction box is packaged according to the prescribed procedure, the inflation pressure in the optical cable junction box is (100±5) kPa. It is immersed in a container filled with clean water at room temperature for 15 minutes, and then observed for 15 minutes. There is no bubble escape in the optical cable junction box, that is, it is well sealed.

Re-encapsulation Test

Before the test, the optical cable splice box should be resealed three times according to the prescribed procedures. The inflation pressure in the optical cable splice box is (100±5) kPa. It should be immersed in a container of clean water at room temperature for 15 minutes. No bubbles should escape.

Immersion Test

After the optical cable splice box is sealed according to regulations, it should be immersed in room temperature water at a depth of 1.5m for 24 hours. No water should enter the optical cable splice box.

Ingress Protection (IP Code) Testing – IP67: Dust-Tight & Immersion Protection

Ingress Protection (IP)Testing is including Dust-tight test & Immersion protection test.

IP65 IP68: 6 refers to the dustproof level.

Dust protection test: The housing is tested in a dusty environment under controlled conditions to confirm that no dust particles can penetrate the housing and ensure that the internal components are not contaminated by dust.

IP65 IP68: 5 and 8 refer to the waterproof level. The test methods are different according to the waterproof level.

The waterproof test of IP65 is called the splash test. The nozzle sprays water at different angles to resist the intrusion of water jets from all directions. This test simulates scenes such as cleaning with a water pipe or exposure to rain to ensure that the housing can protect its internal components from water damage.

The waterproof test of IP68 is called the immersion test. It is immersed in 1.5m of water for at standard time to effectively prevent water from entering and damaging the internal electrical components.
